Sermons on Elder
Gal. 6:2-6 Believers are to be a people concerned about reconciliation and restoration within the body. If a brother sins, we are to be quick to restore him in a spirit of gentleness. But then what? Once restored, we are to carry each others burdens out of a heart of love for one another. What does this look like?
Gal. 5:7-12 Believers, led by the ministry of the Holy Spirit, will respond to the truth and correction, while false teachers and false converts will continue toward judgement.
Selected Scripture: Church leadership is so important to the local church. Where is wisdom found that is suitable to structure the church. Men simply don’t have that kind of wisdom. we need God, and God has graciously revealed to us how church leadership is to work. Elders have such vital roles to the health and growth of the church. 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9. Elders are critical to the health of the local church body. In this message we examine “how” we select the men that are to fill this office, and why must his qualifications be so stringent.
Acts 20:28-32, Ephesians 4:11-14, 2 Timothy 3:16, Acts 14:19-23. Elders are so important that Paul and Barnabas risked their lives to make sure newly planted church had biblical leadership in qualified elders. Why are elders so important?
1 Peter 5:1-3, Acts 20:17-18,28. God’s word clearly teaches what leadership in the church is to look like. In today’s message we look at an overview of the role of Elder/Shepherd in the local church. This is one who is overseers, mature in faith, and example and guide to the flock of God’s people.
