Colossians 4:7-18 Paul concludes this letter to the Colossian church by listing some individuals that are part of his ministry team. These names show us what it looks like to live according to the directions Paul has given here in the letter.
Gal. 6:2-6 Believers are to be a people concerned about reconciliation and restoration within the body. If a brother sins, we are to be quick to restore him in a spirit of gentleness. But then what? Once restored, we are to carry each others burdens out of a heart of love for one another. What does this look like?
2 Timothy 2:1-7 Paul exhorts Timothy to be teacher with his mind set on developing other teachers. The role of the pastor/elder is to teach with the goal of building others who will faithfully teach. We are to teach how to pass the baton.
Selected Scripture: Church leadership is so important to the local church. Where is wisdom found that is suitable to structure the church. Men simply don’t have that kind of wisdom. we need God, and God has graciously revealed to us how church leadership is to work. Elders have such vital roles to the health and growth of the church. Numbers 13-14. Phil Webb shares a great message about possible hindrances to unity in the church. Are we focused on the God we worship or is our gaze fixed on problems, familiar territory, and selfish agenda’s?
1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9. Elders are critical to the health of the local church body. In this message we examine “how” we select the men that are to fill this office, and why must his qualifications be so stringent.
Acts 20:28-32, Ephesians 4:11-14, 2 Timothy 3:16, Acts 14:19-23. Elders are so important that Paul and Barnabas risked their lives to make sure newly planted church had biblical leadership in qualified elders. Why are elders so important?
1 Peter 5:1-3, Acts 20:17-18,28. God’s word clearly teaches what leadership in the church is to look like. In today’s message we look at an overview of the role of Elder/Shepherd in the local church. This is one who is overseers, mature in faith, and example and guide to the flock of God’s people.
Acts 6:1-7, 1 Timothy 3:8-13. Leadership in the local church is so important that our Lord has clearly laid out His plan for us on the pages of the New Testament. One of the offices He has given us is that of the Deacon. A very important role, yet one that has often in history not followed the biblical pattern.
