Blessed Are Those Persecuted for Righteousness
Matthew 5:10-12 Persecution is a given for the follower of Jesus, and the more we look like Jesus, and the more we present the message of Jesus, contrary to what much of the church may say today, we will likewise be treated the way Jesus was treated at the hands of the world. Count on it, but O do we have a great hope that never fails. God upholds His people.
Blessed are the Peacemakers
Matthew 5:9 In order to make peace, one must have peace. To point others to the peace available in God, we need to know this peace ourselves, and if we do, it is a part of who we are to be peacemakers.
Blessed Are The Pure in Heart
Matthew 5:8 What is pure in heart? How does one become pure in heart? After all we are all sinners, so isn’t it too late?
Blessed Are The Merciful
Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Do we earn our salvation by our acts of mercy? Is the change brought about in us by our justification going to one day be examined to see if we are truly saved and inheritors of eternal life?
