Paul turns in this letter to bring correction to the believers in the churches in the Galatian region for drifting into believing a message of error. They have been bewitched by a false gospel, and have fallen for its lies about ho a man is saved. Paul points to their own experience as his first line of defense in defending the gospel that he set before them in chapter 2, a gospel of justification by faith apart from works of the law.
